Climbing in Dilijan
Existing routes and new routing information
Project Armenia
Over August-September 2019, I was part of the 5-week ProjectArmenia expedition to develop the first rock climbing routes in Dilijan National Park. We scouted over 15 kilometres of limestone escarpments deciding to focus our new routing efforts on a few hundred meters width section of the cliffs, ultimately putting up 23 new routes. With the help of the ProjectArmenia team, I wrote a little guide to the sector that is free to download. Sure, 23 new routes wouldn’t justify a climing holiday in Dlijan, but there is so much potential out there, the idea was that by building a guide now it’ll make our life easier as the area grows into the future.
New Routing
If the idea of new routing in Dilijan National Park interests you, then lucky for you there’s a lot of beautiful rock out there waiting for more people to explore! I’ve compiled our scouting photos into a Google Drive photo link here (coming soon!). Permissions are required for new routing as the cliffs trace the border of the National Park - get in touch and I’ll help put you in touch with the right people.
